Generating a Brain Mesh Library Lead Investigator: Mark Anthony Demetillo Institution : Stevens Institute of Technology E-Mail : mdemetil@stevens.edu Proposal ID : 1093 Proposal Description: 1) Generate anatomically accurate models of the brain based on medical images for computational models of the organ's behavior in health and disease. 2) Reconstruction of gray matter, white matter, cerebellum, and brainstem 3) Use of numerical methods to predict changes (shape, volume, microstructure, etc.) in the aging brain 4) Obtain a more thorough understanding of how individual neurodegenerative diseases propagate through the brain and lead to cerebral atrophy. 5) Quantify local changes in brain shape, white/gray matter ratio, ventricle volume increase, increase in gaps between sulci, etc.
